María Victoria Lareu Huidobro, PhD MD, is Professor of Legal Medicine at USC, the Director of the Institute of Forensic Sciences and head of section of the Forensic Genetics section. She has published over 200 papers in forensic genetics being one of the most active scientists in the field (H index of 27). She has an enormous practical experience and she has been responsible of the forensic casework carried out by the Institute of Forensic Sciences at the USC since 1995. She has also experience in designing, conducting and managing research projects in forensics. Her main lines of research are also related with the forensic applications of DNA markers for identification purposes, the prediction of external visible characteristics and recently DNA methylation markers for age donor determination.
