He has focused on use of SNPs for forensic identity testing; ancestry analysis applied to forensic investigations; establishing online SNP variation browser tools, population genetics and characterizing SNP variation underlying complex disease/physical characteristics. Current main interests are development of new SNP tests for more precise ancestry affiliation, applying Indels to forensics and cataloging sequence variation in the core STRs. He is a member of the EUROFORGEN Consortium plus EDNAP, and is listed by Thomson Reuters as a Highly Cited Author (H-Index 26, ResearcherID: E-4005-2012)
